State Supervisory Board

The Government constitute a Board to be known as the 'State Supervisory Board' to exercise the power and perform the functions conferred on the Board under this Act. State Supervisory Board Constituted  vide Government order No. 625-HME of 2002 dated 04-05-2002 and Reconstituted vide Government order No. 504-HME of 2011 dated 20.09.2011

Function

  •  
  • To advise the government on policy matters relating the use of Prenatal diagnostic techniques, preconception sex selection techniques and their misuse.
  • To review and monitor implementation of the Act and the rules made there under and recommend changes in the said Act and rules to the Government.
  • To create public awareness against the practice of preconception sex selection and prenatal determination of sex leading to female foeticide.
  • To lay down Code of Conduct, to be observed by persons working at Genetic Counselling Centres, Genetic Laboratories, Ultrasound/Imaging Authorities and Genetics Clinics.

CHILD SEX RATIO

 “The Juvenile – Sex ratio (0-6 Years) is the most realistic indicator of trends in female foeticide and continuing discrimination against the girl child.
It constitutes a relatively stable population – not migrating for education, work or marriage"

REWARD TO INFORMER

Any Person who gives information about occurrence of sex determination/Female Foeticide with sufficient evidence to the "Appropriate Authority" (AA) at any level shall be given a reward of Rs. 50,000 by the State.
NOTE: The information should be supported with strong evidence.
